Master’s Program
Laboratory Projects
Laboratory Project I
This course represents your first step toward independent scientific work. Throughout the semester, you will focus intensively on a chosen topic under the guidance of a specific advisor.
- Topic Selection: Please arrange the topic and work schedule individually with your chosen advisor.
- Organization: Although one fixed day is reserved for the lab in the schedule, specific attendance dates can be adjusted to fit your availability and the nature of the experiments, in consultation with your advisor.
- Completion: The conditions for receiving credit and the form of the final output (e.g., a report or presentation of results) are determined by the advisor, who will also evaluate your work at the end of the semester.
Laboratory Project II
The approach is the same as for LPI, but you will most likely be working in a different research group. In addition, the project concludes with a presentation of the results before a committee and serves as the basis for your master’s thesis.
Professional Internship and Field Trips (for 1st-year Master’s students)
The Master’s program emphasizes linking theoretical knowledge with the real-world industrial environment.
Industrial Internship
This course includes a continuous three-week internship at a facility (a total of 120 hours worked). It can be completed in one continuous block or in segments that, when combined, meet the required duration.
- Work Location: The choice of workplace (laboratory or chemical plant) is primarily up to you. If you have difficulty finding a suitable location, do not hesitate to contact your advisor or someone from Ph.D students.
- Administration: For more information on the approval process for internships and the required documents, contact Ing. Petr Dvořák, Ph.D.
Field Trips to Companies and Laboratories
We supplement theoretical instruction with practical demonstrations both in the field and at our facility:
- Industrial Field Trips: Field trips to industrial companies are part of the master’s program. We will inform you in a timely manner via email about current dates and the companies we will visit. Ing. Petr Dvořák, Ph.D., is in charge of organizing the excursions.
- Department tours: Every fall, we organize tours of our specialized laboratories for interested students. If you’d like to get a behind-the-scenes look at our research, please contact the department head, Prof. Vojtěch.
